Do you have a dark colored amethyst or a light colored amethyst? And do you think the dark colored amethysts are more energetic, more powerful, or more potent than the lighter shades of amethyst? I personally know many people who prefer the darker shades of amethyst because they think the darker shades are much more powerful. I used to be like that as well. When I would go to the gem shows and the mineral shows,
I would just pick the darker shades of amethyst because I thought they worked better and that there was something wrong with the lighter shades of amethyst. So I used to just ignore the lighter shades of amethyst and not even look at them. And that's fine, because it happens to a lot of us, and usually there's an attraction factor and we don't even know. We are always drawn to what we are drawn to at any given moment.
And then when that feeling changes, sometimes we shift into other things that we prefer. Our body always knows, our intuition always knows what we need, our higher self always knows what we need. I used to be one of those people who really loved dark shades of amethyst, and maybe I needed that in my energy at that particular time. But I have since learned so much about these different shades and colors and what they do for us that I'm now
a believer in that yin and yang balanced, harmonized energy of the light colored shades and the dark colored shades of amethyst. In this video, I want to answer the question of whether the dark colored shades of amethyst are better than the lighter shades of amethyst. I'm also going to share with you when to use the dark colored amethyst and when to use the light colored amethyst.

The dark color is attractive and striking for sure, but it's not better than the lighter shades of amethyst. And I'm going to tell you why in a minute. First of all, crystals get their colors from natural radiation from the earth or from artificial, man-made radiation.
They also get their colors from their chemical composition. The purple color of amethyst comes from the natural radiation in the earth and also from the iron and manganese minerals within it. The different colors of amethyst are basically because the amethyst has more or less of the color-causing minerals in them, or just because of the intensity of the earth radiation on that particular amethyst crystal that you have.
What this means is that both the dark colored amethyst and the light colored amethyst are potent and powerful. It just comes down to what you are using the specific amethyst for and what particular color of amethyst you need to choose, especially when you're targeting something specific in your life. I always say it's good to know why you're working with specific crystals in your life.
The choice to be conscious about these kinds of matters is now upon us, and we all have to take it seriously. We all have to know what crystal we are using and why we are using it. Whether that information comes to you through spirit or through others or through whichever source, it's always good to know why you are doing the things you are doing so that you can notice things about yourself,
observe yourself better, and then make the changes that you need if need be. I think that's a good thing. So when should you use the light colored shades of amethyst and when should you use the dark colored shades of amethyst? The light colored shades of amethyst are usually on the sunny side of things. They are lighter and they are usually more nourishing.
You'll notice that in most energy healing work, the lighter shades of amethyst or the lighter colors of crystals are usually preferred because they are light and their energy is always well received. They have a softness to the way their energy lands, and it's also a good energy for empaths to work with because they are really sensitive. Sensitive people usually do well with the lighter shades of amethyst crystals, or just lighter shades in general.
So if you're an empath and you're really sensitive, try working with the lighter shades of crystals and see how you feel, and whether there's a difference between the darker shades and the lighter shades. The other thing about these lighter shades of amethyst is that they have a warming effect. They carry really warming, uplifting energies. So in cases where you need to warm yourself up or lift yourself up, even spiritually,
the lighter shades of amethyst can come in handy to give you that quick uplifting effect that you need. What about the darker shades of amethyst? The darker shades of amethyst have a more cooling effect. They're more on the sunset side of the energy of amethyst. The lighter shades are more on the sunny side, they lift you up, and the darker shades are more on the reducing-the-heat side of things.
All these crystals work together to balance things. As we know, amethyst is generally a very uplifting crystal, but the dark colored amethyst uplifts you in a way that cools down whatever is preventing you from getting uplifted. So if there's anything in your life that's trying to stop you from getting uplifted in your spiritual life or on your spiritual path,
dark amethyst is perfect. It cools down that energy that's stopping you. The light colored amethyst lifts you up. It warms you up so you're excited about getting spiritually uplifted. And as usual, in everything, balance is key. Working with a dark colored amethyst and a light colored amethyst is a very energizing way to do this spiritual healing energetic work. It's a great combination.
